I'm in the top 50!

Hi everyone!

I'm thrilled to be a finalist for Australia's Best Job in the World! I greatly appreciate the kind words, support and votes. You can vote once every 24 hours, and please get others to do the same! Living in a small town, I might not have the most extensive media coverage or an entire nation behind me, but I'm grateful for the wonderful support I have received from around the world. Thanks; keep it up!

You can vote here - www.islandreefjob.com/Steven - and please send the link to your friends and family and post it on Facebook, MySpace, websites, blogs, etc.

This has been such a fun process, and I'm honored to be considered with the other finalists. If I'm hired for the job, I will explore the Great Barrier Reef from top to bottom and find exciting ways to share my adventures with the world!

More updates to come.

Thanks, xie xie, gracias, merci, grazie, multumesc, danke and cheers!

Steven

¡Y también, muchísimas gracias a todo el mundo por su apoyo! Es un privilegio representar a la comunidad  hispanohablante.

  2. Good luck. I'm doing a technical analysis of the top 50 and you're 36 on my list (just visited Anny Chih).

You're in the Piney Woods then. Used to live in Dallas a fair bit ago. Now we're in Canada. On an island. The one I'll be caretaking, since I didn't make the top 50! :p

  3. Thanks, Scott! Technical analysis, eh? What are the criteria?

Anny Chih is great! I enjoyed the chance to exchange emails with her yesterday. Really fun video.

I hope all goes well on your island - even if it's not on the GB Reef.

  4. Hey there, came by to check out the competition. I think I'll nip that in the bud. Everyone is so great, I'm losing my will to live. ;)

I too am in the Top 50. Working on my essay at the moment. Writing 500 words is a bit like fitting it all into a minutes submission, ay?

Anywho, best of luck. You're way ahead of me in votes so I better get back to work on my mind-blowing, life changing essay.

  5. Thanks, Adeline! And congrats! I love how genuine and sneakily informative your video was. Very fun.

What's your email address? I'll go see if I can find it somewhere...

  6. I voted for you again today! You may not make it as the #1 wildcard, but I hope the judges choose you as one of the 10 to go to Australia for the final interviewing! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

  9. Hi there!
If you haven't yet, I'd check out
    islandreefjob.ning.com
Word on the street is that TQ reads the site regularly (whether that's true or not I don't know for sure)... but it's a great little community where you can get the skinny on what other candidates are up to! Some are campaigning pretty hard! :)
    Good luck!

  10. Haha, thanks, Laura! Yes, I've definitely seen the ning site - they've done an incredible job! Scott Kimler and I actually chatted about it yesterday, and I'll probably join soon (if they'll have me). I've neglected so many other aspects of my life these last few weeks, that I didn't know if I could add another. But it will be fun to connect with the other applicants. Thanks!
